The museum was founded in June 2003. Its main activities are research and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Halician Karaite community. The museum complex consists of: exposition halls in the building № 33 on Rizdvo square (it was opened in autumn of 2004); 10 Karaite houses of the beginning of ХХ century along Karaimska Street; foundations of Karaite church ruined in 1985 – “kenasy”; Karaite cemeteries in Zalukva village and in Halych city (Zamkova Street). The work of the museum is very important, especially now – when Karaite community is almost finishing its existence in Halych city.
